Synopsis: Tindledale is in a tizzy . . .

The Village Show competition is coming around again and after last year’s spectacular failure, the villagers are determined to win. Meg, teacher at the local school, is keen to help and to impose some much-needed order.

After a terse encounter with a newcomer to the village, Meg discovers that it is celebrity chef and culinary bad boy, Dan Wright. Meg thinks he is arrogant and rude but rumour has it that Dan is opening a new restaurant in the village which could really put Tindledale on the map.

As things come together, villagers old and new all start to come out of the woodwork, including new arrival Jessie who seems to have it all. But first impressions can be deceptive and Meg discovers that when it comes to Tindledale – and Dan – nothing is ever quite as it seems . . .

Kat’s Rating: 5/5

Kat’s Review: Last Year when I read The Great Christmas Knit Off I fell in love! Not only with the characters from the book but with the village of Tindledale. We return to Tindledale and soon realise that they are hosting The Great Village Show which is an absolute must if they want to save their local school.

Meg is the acting head teacher at the school, and is also the focus of this latest book featuring the village. Thankfully we get to see glances of Sybs, Hettie and Dr Ben who featured in the last book along with a whole host of other village characters. Maggie is extremely likeable and we also get to see brief glimpses of her son who is currently at Uni. The other major addition to this story is Jessie a newcomer to the village. She has her children and a husband who is rarely seen.

Jessie certainly doesn’t have an easy life but the situation she is in, is dealt with in a way that makes it so much more readable than other attempts I’ve seen. As Meg throws herself into organising the Village show, all the villagers pull together to try and pull off the best show the judges have seen. With the addition of the celebrity chef Dan Wright the book has all the right ingredients for a perfect read.

I am enthralled with this village and imagine it in my head. What is so lovely about this series is that we now have a second book with a second villager, meaning that maybe (if we are lucky) this series will continue being shown from a different villager’s point of view. There are so many fabulous characters that Alexandra Brown is certainly not short on choice. I have to say that I loved this book just as much as the last one and I am really excited to see what comes next. A definite must read for those wanting to delve into a whole host of characters rather than just one.
